Just when you think you have it all figured out and your Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is working and moving you up in the search ranks, Google comes along and throws a monkey wrench into the mix, I’m talking about Search plus Your World. Google has its Google Search by adding a deeper integration between Google’s search engine and Google+, so search results are suggesting People and Pages on Google+ so you can add them to your Google+ circles based on what you’re searching for. In doing this Google+ is changing SEO, meaning you have to change your strategy on how you handle your on and off page SEO.
When Google+ went live for the first time, we posted how Google Plus For Your Business would help grow your online marketing, along with how Google Docs and Google+ worked together. Now it’s pretty much a given to have a Google+ Profile and Page for your business, now that Google has integrated Google+ profile information into the search results. The result is while your website rankings might be lower, your Google+ Page may have a higher ranking.
This means your “Google Rank” could be based on the total number of +1′s (Google’s equivalent of the Facebook Like button) that your Google+ page and website have received or by a visitor sharing something from your Google+ Page or website on their social media networks, you would show up higher in the rankings. This not only changes your ability to receive better rankings in the search engine, this also recommends you to people searching for you or the services or products you have to offer. Those recommendations can lead someone purely because Click to Continue Reading→

Here are my Local Online Marketing 2012 Predictions, to help give small businesses marketers out there a heads up. Some of these are not only for the local business marketer, but do affect them:
Adapt or die in order for small businesses to survive and grow, they are no longer just competing with the sole proprietor next door, but the corporate chains and franchise owners that have marketing teams helping them. I think small business owners will have to hire a full-time person to build online partnerships and keep on top of the rapid changes that affect your marketing and bottom line or outsource their online presence to someone with already established partnerships to market your business online. Think about how many changes will come about in technology along with consumer behaviors in the up and coming year alone.
Merging Online and Offline. Forrester Research predicts that almost 50% of Brick and Mortar purchases are influenced by online activities. That means even if you do not purchase your product or service on the web, you will use the web to make your dissension as to who you will buy from offline. Which leads me to my next prediction. Facebook when done right can works very well as a measure to force traffic and sales to a domain such as your hub website.
Below, are just a few reasons why your business simply has to have a Facebook Business Page as an element of its online and social media campaign.
More Exposure – Facebook is among the most frequently used internet sites now on the web, implying that your target audience is just big is an understatement, here are a few stats polled in October 2011 below just to put things into perspective:
- 6,845,609,960 Humans on the planet
- 1,966,514,816 Internet users
- 517,760,460 Facebook users
Put another way: about 7% of the earths humans are on Facebook.
Name Recognition – When you glance at the massive names with a Facebook page and actively inspire folks to follow them, you can truly start to find out how critical it may be for you as your business or brand actually starts to grow. The more that you get your name in front of folk then the larger your brand has the ability to grow, which is just about what any business own wants to see.
Drive Sales – If you have all the above discussed things, then in principle, you’re going to see an increase in sales or inquiries, which is normally the entire reason behind making this sort of promoting outlet. So long as you look after your proponents and only share topical and selected info, you might be able to keep them all anticipating your updates and with luck keep the sales rolling in from your present customer fans.
One of the largest facets of having a Facebook business page is that folks can swiftly and easily like and share your posts, that means not merely will your fans see your most recent updates but probably, so can all their chums and associates. Facebook offers a fast, one touch “show all” promoting message to your fans, which if you increase over time can have a huge effect on your business.
Keep in mind that it not only takes some design and programing to create a Facebook Business Page, but also the time to promote and grow its base of followers. Posting good content and asking questions of your followers is a must with any good business page.
You also don’t want to put all your eggs in one basket, remember even though Facebook is a great place to promote your business, Facebook can also remove your account at anytime if you violate any of their rules. This is another reason to have and maintain your own website as the hub of your online presence.

5 Small Business Online Marketing Mistakes to avoid when planing your online marketing campaign.

The Web is a great source for leads – but also a fast an expensive way to make mistakes.
Here are six common mistakes companies make when trying to drive leads using their websites:
1. Relying on a “Contact Us” form
You need to make it easy for clients to contact you. While a “Contact Us” form is an obvious necessity on any site, small businesses should gather their visitors data in a way that tells you more about your visitors and what their needs are. You can offer a some ways to entice potential clients to give permission for you to contact them. Successful tactics include offering free estimates, a free guide or a chance to win free stuff or a full-out sweepstakes to enter.
2. Counting on SEO alone
Search engines like Google alone are not enough to drive traffic to your website. While important, small businesses can reach out to potential clients through other sources, like social media, email marketing, print to cloud and in-person networking. It’s a full-time job just keeping up with Google’s algorithm changes, so without a professional service handling your SEO on a regular basis it is very difficult to stay ahead, and make it work.
3. Not being ready
Getting online is just half the battle, being ready for the increased business in a way that promotes long-term relationships with new customers is a must. Having ways to handle the leads that come in by email or phone call. Make sure you and your staff understand what to do when they contact your business.
4. Not being aggressive enough
While many small business owners worry about annoying potential customers, the truth is constantly asking for those customers information when they come to the your website sells more. Many of the most annoying tactics work pretty well. Website marketing tools like pop ups, little people walking across the home page, and may we help you chat windows, can actually work if done properly, giving you a larger percentage of sales or estimates filled out.
5. Letting a site get stagnant
Content has become king as the search engines are looking for ways to tell if a website is worth being indexed with them, not to mention people love great content, and will follow a site with useful content. One strategy is creating articles that don’t have a promotional feel, but are full of good information.
This is only 5 small business marketing mistakes, there are many more that I see happening every day, if you have some you have seen or have experienced some of these yourself, please post them in the comments below and help your fellow small business owners.

When considering options for getting qualified leads to your door and how to market our products or services to prospective clients we as the average human being often do not speculate in the probable outcome in which advertising will bring a qualified lead to our door step. All of the prospects that arrive on our door step have the potential of becoming a valued customer. It has been quite often that I have seen new, small or even older established businesses that recognize that they need to advertise or market because that is what businesses do. They spend good money bringing in qualified leads to their doors, just to lose them in the conversion process.
Keep in mind that marketing can only bring prospects to your door, it’s up to you to answer the door and invite them in!
