I host with many hosting companies, but in this article I will be showing a hosting service called HostGator. The reason being, is that HostGator has been one of the better services that I have used for my hosting over the years, and they have shown me that they have a good service department, when I’ve needed help. And no matter what anyone tells you, you will need to get help from time to time, when you host a website from anyone. It’s just the nature of the beast, and this is when you find out if you have a good hosting service.
So How do You Sign Up for Hosting
First you will want to go to HostGator.com, and select “Web Hosting” in the upper left as the red arrow indicates. I know there are all sorts of things you can click on, but this is the fastest route to get to the hosting section, trust me.

This will open up to the page above, showing three of HostGator’s hosting plans. I suggest you take a look at all three plans, just to see all they offer. I find the “Hatchling” Plan OK, if you only need to host a single domain name. But in this case I have selected the “Baby Plan” marked with the red arrow, because this plan offers Unlimited Domains to be hosted, meaning if you start another blog or website, all you have to do is add it without paying anymore money for hosting. Now if you find yourself needed the extras the “Business Plan” offers, of course select that plan for yourself, it has everything the first two offer, along with Dedicated SSL and even a Toll-Free VoIP Number for your business.

After clicking on the “Order Now” button, you’ll be brought to the Order Wizard, where you can register a new domain. or use an existing domain name. I like keeping my domain names separate from my hosting, so I use another service like GoDaddy for my domain name service. Doing this makes if fast and easy to switch if something goes south with the hosting service, or you decide to sell your site. As you can see from the red arrows, I have entered in a domain that already exist.

After clicking next, you can now select your billing cycle, of course the more you pay up front, the more you will save, just click the little blue down arrow, to see your chooses. And some times you even get a coupon code thrown in, or you can find one on this site, from time to time as I get them, and yes I am an affiliate with HostGator, but that just helps you save.

After filling out your information, and clicking “Verify My Order” you will receive an email with further instructions, and information about your new hosting account.

With this information, you can access your new account, and setup your GoDaddy account with your Name Server information, provided in this email.
And of course if you have any questions about signing up for HostGator hosting, there always contact information in the upper right of their website to get help.
Until next time,
